Review of The Little Mermaid (2023) by Getsmelifted — 26 May 2023

Oh dear. This really was bad. Every single change is made for the worse. The feeling that the animation invokes is completely lost in a film that's trying so hard to hide it's disdain for the themes of the original but it just can't help itself.

The animals look terrifying. Changes made to the plot, although admittedly small changes, are still significant enough to make you scratch your head and ask "Why would they do that?". But then you remember that it's the mythical modern audience that this was made for.

.. It's not worth the price of admission by a long shot. Wait till you can watch it for free if you have to watch it at all.
