Review of The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976) by Bob S — 12 Nov 2010
Foster is sensational as a young, mysterious teenager who lives in the shadow of a meddling landlord, the landlordâ(TM)s adult pedophile son, and a curious cop. Itâ(TM)s no secret to the audience that the girl lives alone, but I had trouble believing that the police didnâ(TM)t raise further questions about her absent father and about her visitors.
That being said, this film is quite suspenseful with a daring script and great characters. Sheenâ(TM)s character was truly sinister, but was probably too taboo to receive the credit he deserved. Likewise, the film, including Gessnerâ(TM)s direction, was most likely unrecognized due to its provocative scenes and suggestive themes.
