Review of The Little Foxes (1941) by Alison H — 16 Mar 2008
This is the William Wyler directed movie based on the play by Lillian Hellman. You may think you're in for a familiar family drama concerning turn of the century Southerners. But you're wrong. It's a horror movie with heartless, greedy villains as evil as Hannibal Lector and as soulless as Chugurh. They're just a little more subtle in their slow killing.
Bette Davis steals every scene. This woman was sickeningly good as an actress. Enough can't be said about her. She had drama coming out of her eyelids. This is a compelling story--well acted, well-scripted, well-directed. I highly recommend it. Dorothy Parker also contributed to the script.
