Review of The Lion King (1994) by Matthew D — 18 Feb 2013
Movie Matt here with The Lion King. Again no recap because everyone knows the story. Actually, the movie is actually the second for doing a story with virtually no human characters as Bambi was the first one.
The movie itself follows Hamlet thematically and in the story and characters are basically Hamlet's characters in animal form. Actually, the movie has very sweeping visuals, the characters are perfect but with the villain, they go back to the old "Take over & get stopped by the hero" cliche.
I also must talk about the death of Mufasa: Not implied, YOU SEE IT occur, right down to showing us the body. Is it bad: No, totally not. I'll say See It but, again, let's face it, you already have.
