Review of The Lion in Winter (1968) by Anthony I — 26 Aug 2007
You can tell this was a play originally because of how sharp and quick the dialog is. The cast is un-frickin-believable. O'Toole holds down the key role, playing the same King he had played back in "Beckett", King Henry II.
Hepburn is at her bittersweet (and snappy) best, and Hopkins, Dalton, Nigel Terry and the deliciously evil John Castle toss bon mots and vitriol like hand grenades without anyone dominating save the King himself.
