Review of The Lion in Winter (1968) by Máirín J — 27 Oct 2007
So you think you went through an ugly divorce and no family is as dysfunctional as yours. Watch this film and think again. O'Toole and Hepburn are excellent as the permanently quarreling Henry II of England and Elanor of Aquitaine.
They can't live with, but certainly neither without each other, their three sons caught in the crossfire, their 'loving' parents dangling their crowns for them in a never ending welter of intrigue.
Razorsharp dialogues and an excellent script combined with a batch of very good British actors make sure that this film is as fresh today as when it came out in 1968.
