Review of The Lion in Winter (1968) by Kyle M — 12 Feb 2013
It's hard for me to give a 5-star rating to anything made before I was born. There are so many things I have to let go because of the tech that directors had back then 45 years ago. That being said, tech has nothing to do with the script and the script in this dysfunctional royal family is out-freaking-standing.
It's one thing to act out cheesy lines perfectly, and it's another to act out thought provoking and penetrating dialogue like what is present in this film. It's really good. Every time I got bored, O'Toole and Hepburn sucked me right back in.
Anthony Hopkins had more gray hair than his "father" in the film and that was weird.
