Review of The Lion in Winter (1968) by Jon B — 24 Nov 2007
King Henry II, his wife and their thrree sons bicker, battle and back-stab over the future of the kingdom in 11th century England. Tour-de-force performances from Peter O'Toole, Katherine Hepburn and a young Anthony Hopkins, a cracling and funny screenplay, and magnificent John Barry music; the whole thing does veer towards the overly-melodramatic, but it's still very entertaining.
