Review of The Limits of Control (2009) by Mikey M — 21 Nov 2009
When people speak of pretentious, self indulgent, too cool for the room independent cinema movies like "The Limits of Control" are what they are referring to.
I understand what Jim Jarmusch was trying to do, in concept this movie is a beautify shot exercise in minimalism. It removes all the action, suspense and drama from your typical Hollywood triller and see's what's left. Unfortunately unlike movie that take a similar road, namely Steven Soderbergh's "Bubble" and "The Girlfriend Experience", "The Limits of Control" is at it's heart pointless and although that may be the whole idea it doesn't make for a good film.
