Review of The Light Between Oceans (2016) by Hugo G — 08 Sep 2016
8.4/10.
Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander's performances were really good and their chemistry was very strong. Both of them really carried the film through most of it. That being said it was a long movie with a lot of plot and things going on. And once Rachel Weisz got in the picture that was were everything became more interesting and dramatic. I liked the fact that although it started as a romantic movie, halfway through it went on a more dramatic route with the baby adrift plot. But once it got to its third act, the movie became very emotional and really made it worth watching. It was indeed a roller coaster of emotions, and its great performances really helped. Also the cinematography looked very beautiful and the town showcased in Australia helped the movie come together very nicely. However the beginning was quite slow but once the story got going, it was very nice and lovely but also heart breaking.
