Review of The Light Between Oceans (2016) by Wade W — 04 Jan 2019
There's no denying The Light Between Oceans is a stunning film. The cinematography is top-notch and the performances are pretty solid. However, the story and writing suffer, which in turn makes everything else irrelevant.
It's a slog to get through, and the on-screen lead duo lacks any real chemistry. Much of the emotion and poignant moments tend to feel forced which makes the entire thing feel artificial in many ways.
Add onto this the fact that it overstays its welcome. I may not even recommend it as a rental. (2/5).
