Review of The Light Between Oceans (2016) by Michael G — 01 Sep 2016
The movie was visually stunning to look at. The scenery of the movie made me really feel like I was on the remote island. Being a fan of both Michael and Alicia may have influenced my rating, but their intense chemistry is undeniable.
The setting of the novel, as it is the setting of the film, puts the audience in a seemingly distant, yet stunning, time when everyone was sensitive to loss and were on their journeys to recovery. The movie tugs at the heart strings in all the right places, in my opinion, and really shows the story of the heartbreak of becoming a parent and becoming an adult.
These are the types of losses and issues we don't realize as children.
