Review of The Life of Emile Zola (1937) by Carlos R — 15 Oct 2009
Good film. The court scenes were extraordinary, very well acted and directed. The rest of the film was good, with a good script, maybe complicated and insecure in some parts. The acting performance by Paul Muni was over the top, one of the best of that decade.
The ending is mysterious and very good. The only thing that made me not like this more was the slow and boring start, it really didn't motivate me very much. When Mrs. Dreyfus presents her husband's case to Emile Zola, the film totally transformed into a great drama/courtroom motion picture.
