Review of The Life Before Her Eyes (2007) by Morteza B — 25 Oct 2008
I enjoyed this movie b/c it made me think. As rarely ever happens, I was actually surprised by the twist. The only thing I didn't like as much was that the choice she made at the end was less a sacrifice (as Maureen's was when she said "Me") and more a decision based on the fact that even in an ideal daydream, she still couldn't envision a future for herself where she would turn out happy.
So she said "shoot me" not out of love for her friend, but out of despair. That wasn't really inspiring. (When Maureen had said "shoot me" first, she seemed to mean it to save her friend.
When the shooter questioned Diana if she was willing to go along with him shooting Maureen, she begged for her own life. ).
