I can't see the stars so I have no clue what I gave this. but I'm officially giving it 4 stars. another film of Wes Anderson awesomeness. I love his symetrical shots (and sometimes asymetrical shots). I like how he almost always shoots straight on or in profile. I like the understated air of the characters and the humor. I like the quirkiness. like the silly orange hats. I get the biggest kick out of Willem's because it bounces. so this is kind of like a fun versioin of Moby Dick. much much more fun. I like the use of marine animals, cats, and stop motion. there's a symbolism going on subtley at times. so. do I like this movie better than the Royal Tennenbaums? no. I think there is just more magic in that movie. I guess this would be at a tie with The Darjeeling Limited. maybe I like this a bit more. I dunno. doesn't matter which I like better (then why did I bring it up? I dunno) I love this film.

New Ideas:

My, have my tastes changed. I still love Wes Anderson. I've just been revisiting films lately and several of his. And I do not really have the same love for this that I used to. I just don't find it very funny or entertaining. It doesn't really engage me. The only character I really like is Klaus. There's a couple funny parts but this just doesn't do much for me anymore. I would put Darjeeling over this. I love that one.
