Review of The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004) by Jenna I — 23 Apr 2011
I feel a stronger affinity for Peter Sellers than ever. I always wanted to understand more about him, his personality, his life, but he has always been so elusive. I thought this movie might help me to know the man behind all the masks better, but the movie only exacerbates the idea of a lack of persona, to chilling effect at the end of a movie in a scene that - well, gave me chills.
I might wind up owning this movie. Beautifully filmed and performed - odd script but I think in an effective way. It isn't often you see movies that veer from the standard narrative style anymore, so it's wonderful to see one do it successfully.
