Review of The Libertine (2004) by Marie K — 02 Dec 2008
Johnny Depp is really a terrific actor and he makes the extreme Earl totally believeable. Funny that two of his supporting cast he has also worked with in the Pirates movies - Jack Sparrow has a little bit of the Earl's depravity/despair, I thought.
The performances are so tight in this movie and the setting so realistic that it's almost possible to forget the constant vulgarity.
