Review of The Libertine (2004) by Enrico F — 22 Apr 2009
Somewhat unnecessary film in general, Samantha Morton, flavour of the month at the time, fails to convince either as the one woman who "gets" to Wilmot, or as an actress capable of moving anything but furniture.
Rosamund Pike is heartbreakingly superb, and Depp turns in probably one of the finest performances of his career, although to little avail. The phrase "pissing in the wind" springs to mind.
