Review of The Libertine (2004) by Nadine B — 04 May 2010
Johnny Depp was absolutely amazing in this.....he was so believeable and completely immersed in his character....but the movie just wasn't great. Some scenes didn't make sense to me when I first viewed them.
I also felt that there wasn't much of a climax...for example, they spent awhile building up the first-middle part of the movie, which was good. Then after that, it just seemed like, "oh, now he's searching for redemption and now he's going to die.
" It just seemed to come out of no where and didn't last long enough, like they wanted to suddenly end the movie. So I wasn't a huge fan of the film.
