Review of The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017) by David O — 08 Nov 2017

Going in Ninjago was always likely to be the lower quality Lego movie, due to the strengths of its predecessors and less known characters. While that feeling looms over the film, it still boasts a lot of charm and great characters, with a good story.

Here, Lego appears to be the story telling tool for a solid animated family movie as opposed to the very different movies that come before it. There's good gags and strong voice work, coupled with beautiful animation and a surprisingly touching narrative with some good emotion but the doesn't have the groundwork or unique creativity its other movies had.
