Review of The Lego Movie (2014) by Marcus L — 31 Mar 2016
First 70 minutes of the movie is fast-paced, featuring eye popping action sequences and, most substantially, a ton of high-quality gags and references that never stops you from laughing from one scene to another. It was "parody movie" at its best and cliche free. It was cinematic experience to such a high level the first half of the movie is literally brilliant.
The last 40 minutes is a little disappointing. Things got a little repetitive and there are no more new gags and funny references to other movies. The live action is just okay, and there are uneasy plot holes. However, it is noteworthy of how meaningful and strong is the message revealed near the end. The message is a salute to the greatness of LEGO and is thought provoking. It lives up to the movie title and I really love it. 8/10.
