Review of The Legend of Tarzan (2016) by Late R — 16 Aug 2017
The trend to go dark and gritty still seems to be in full effect which has served many a film well in the past and could have worked here too, but there does have to be some substance to go with it which, unfortunately for 'The Legend of Tarzan', isn't the case.
It isn't just the generic, predictable and badly written plot that fails to impress, but also the characters that are ridiculously shallow parodies of someone else with absolutely no effort at all being put into establishing even the smallest of connections between them and the audience.
In the end, it feels like an overly rushed, bloated mess that should have concentrated on telling one part of Tarzan's life as opposed to trying to stuff all of it into one movie.
