Review of The Legend of Hell House (1973) by Joe B — 19 Aug 2007

Richard Matheson is one of my favourite authors and when I saw that this was his screenplay of his own source novel I expected a real treat. What I got was a rather slow and laborious take on the old haunted house theme.

Some original moments and creepy scenes sadly didn't make up for the clunky acting and frankly ludicrous reason for the ghost to be killing people. Worth checking out for Roddy MacDowell's glasses alone though.
