Review of The Legend of Billie Jean (1985) by Zane T — 25 Jul 2010
This movie is so horribly made that it is hilarious. It's the story or trailer trash versus sleaze. Where do I begin? First off, everyone seems to have a silly name, Hubie, Binx, Putter, Billie Jean.
Second, when you go on the lam, you maybe need to get out of town. These people drive around Corpus Christi the whole movie and almost get caught several times. Then, there are the silly Texas accents which can pierce your ears, especially Yeardley Smith's.
Then, you have the fact that Keith Gordon comes in as Billie Jean's love interest, but at the end she give him a good bye kiss and what is he, a high school student, a college student. We never know.
Then, there is the whole Peter Coyote character who the movie never gives anything to do. There's also the Billie Jean look itself which says, pardon me, bull-dyke. So, I guess this was a big middle finger to the Reaganeighties with turning the vendor tent into a pyre of capitlist greed and then the ending where Binx is arm is still in a sling.
He was shot in the summer and he's in Vermont in the winter. Someone needs to find a new doctor.
