Review of The Legend Is Born: Ip Man (2010) by Yong K — 02 Sep 2010
This prequel to the original Donnie Yen movies Ip Man and Ip Man II does not really have a strong plot compared to the Donnie Yen version and the love triangle is a bit weak. However, all of that is compensated by the numerous fight scenes throughout this film.
Some of the actors look familiar as they also acted in Ip Man 1 and 2 which may be initially confusing at first. Highlights include cameos from veteren kung fu stars Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and even Ip man's real-life son ! Worth watching just for the fight scenes alone.
