Big-screen spinoffs of TV comedies are usually quite weak and strained but this is a truly original take on the genre. An understanding of the series and its characters probably makes it pretty impenetrable for newcomers, which is a shame as the League's combined talents could have made this a worthy successor to Shaun Of The Dead.

Nevertheless, its very funny and macabre, although some of the show's most memorable characters are underused. David Warner is excellent in a role fondly harking back to his villains in Tron and Time Bandits.

If you are new to the League, may I recommend their Christmas Special, a Tales From The Crypt-style horror anthology which is both hysterical and disturbing!
