Review of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) by Josh K — 17 May 2013
I know that a lot of people did not enjoy this film, partly due to its generic storytelling and the fact that it isn't true to the graphic novel by Alan Moore. It's true that the film is slightly generic, with a slightly ordinary premise, while also not being true to the graphic novel, but the only reason that I really enjoy this film is because of Sean Connery.
Sean Connery in my opinion is cast perfectly as Allan Quatermain, while the supporting character are also perfectly cast, with the special effects being absolutely amazing. In a way I have a particular soft spot for this film, mainly because of the involvement of Sean Connery.
The film is slightly generic at times and it would have been interesting to see a closer adaptation of the graphic novel, but the film is just a great dumb ride and follows that concept perfectly. The film is nothing extraordinary, but works as a good B movie.
