Review of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) by Victoria P — 08 Nov 2011
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen made one of cinemas greatest actors to retire; however, the movie successfully marries great literary classics with contemporary comic books. After a difficult and well publicized production, LXG was massacred by critics, and sometimes rightly so.
The problem with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is the filmmakers tried to give everyone a main storyline and ended up diluting everything. However LXG is a smart film filled with literary, historic and scientific inside-jokes that makes for an entertaining, adventurous and action-packed tale held together by a final masterful performance from Sean Connery that proves he can still save the day.
