Review of The Lavender Hill Mob (1951) by Dave R — 30 Dec 2010
This film is genius through and through. It's so light-hearted and brilliant. The film won an Oscar for its script and it was most definitely deserving as it is filled with the signature wit of all the Ealing Studio films and is highly unpredictable which keeps the viewer's attention throughout.
It's a clever film and Alec Guinness very much deserved his Oscar nomination. He is excellent. This film deserves its classic status. This would make a perfect fit to have billed along with The Ladykillers.
Great film. 10/10.
