Review of The Lavender Hill Mob (1951) by John M — 14 May 2017
It might be a bit dated now, but, you soon forget about that, once you start getting engaged by the story and laughing at the considerable wit. For me, it's a better film than either Kind Hearts and Coronets or The Ladykillers, and, believe me, that really is saying something.
A really impressive script, quite brilliant performances and some genuinely interesting and inventive direction combine to make The Lavender Hill Mob one of the best British comedies you will ever see.
