Review of The Last Winter (2006) by Brandon S — 16 Feb 2010
The Last Winter is about a group that is trying to get an oil drilling site started up again in Alaska, but slowly goes insane. The film looks like The Thing in the beginning, then takes a turn to try to make some sort of message about the environment and it doesn't work.
The ghost monsters are thrown in without an explanation which hurts the film, because it works so hard to be about enviromental problems with a touch of the supernatural. Pick a problem either it's the destruction of the enviroment or monsters, but don't half ass both.
