Review of The Last Wave (1977) by Will G — 05 Oct 2007
This is the first film that Australian Peter Weir (The Truman Show, Fearless) made in the U.S. It still has the odd mysticism of his Aussie works (Gallipoli, Picnic at Hanging Rock), so those of you expecting The Truman Show without Jim Carrey will be in for a surprise.
This film follows a lawyer as he tries to defend aborigines in a trial where they are accused of killing one of their own. As he gets deeper into the trial, he begins to realize that it is no accident that he has gotten swept up into the controversy.
