Review of The Last Waltz (1978) by Richard P — 26 Aug 2007
Although the interview footage can seem a little rehearsed, its the performances that bring this film alive. Whether Scorsese's camera is tracking through The Staples, matching the ebb and flow of the music exactly, or fixed static on Muddy Waters growling out Mannish Boy - this is a masterclass in putting music on film.
