Review of The Last Unicorn (1982) by Kelly S — 28 Apr 2009
It's interesting to see an animated film from this time that wasn't a project from Disney or Don Bluth. It has some unexpected concepts behind it, providing a much darker tale than you'd expect from a film called The Last Unicorn.
Still, it hasn't dated all too well and really suffers when it cuts to the unnecessary musical breaks featuring music from the forgotten band America, and visuals of the Unicorn frolicking about on various landscapes.
Some of the supporting characters helped make the movie, most notably Alan Arkin's underachieving wizard Schmendrick. Still, it's just pretty average and I don't have the nostalgia to boost it up.
