Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Darryl J — 09 Jan 2008
I'm not religious...AT ALL but the themes of redemption, temptation, and forgiveness are all universal. You don't have to believe in god to watch this.TRUST ME.
William Dafoe is mesmerizing as a very believable jesus and portrays him not as this fearless god figure that most people know him as but as a very conflicted man with his own temptations and doubts that he has to overcome. I liked that because it gives people hope that they can resist their own demons inside of them instead of trying to live up to this unattainable perfection that the bible and church teach to you.
Martin Scorsese's directing is awesome as always. I really loved the use of reds in the movie. The soundtrack also gave it a lot of life.
