Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Bryan E — 10 Jan 2008
It's personal preference, but I like cinema when it moves me.
TLTC moved me down the street, across town and halfway around the planet.
It would be hard to imagine a more stunning and intimate depiction of a man that a whole bunch of Christians around the world refer to as Jesus Christ.
Add to that the hugely controversial decision to portray Christ as flawed in the flesh; falling for Mary's wiles and then forgiven - slate wiped clean by his Father.
Pretty amazing stuff, produced in a quality that makes it easy to lose yourself, deep in the holy lands about 2000 years ago.
William Dafoe is at his best in this film.
