Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Drew L — 13 Feb 2008
Daft, yet brilliant! It's like fear and loathing in Jerusalum. Willem Defoe portrays Jesus like a hybrid of Jim Morrison and Graham Chapman (Life of Brian), wandering through the desert and talking to snakes and lions (been there), while Harvey Keitel plays Judas as if he was an ancester of Mr. White!
Non of this was probably intended but given the choice of a saviour between this one and the passion's one... I'd have to follow Defoe!
John the Baptist was clearly off his face!!!
