Review of The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) by Benjamin S — 03 Jan 2009
A brilliant experiment. The casting is a little questionable, and the ideas often smother the story, but overall, this overtly humanist take on the Gospels is very interesting and stirring. I'm not sure what the controversy was all about at the time, but this is as honest as a film can be about being an interpretation shot through a prism... the disclaimer says it all. Wonderfully authentic, and good for the brain, as well as the spirit.
