If you can humanize superhero like Batman and Spiderman, why not make one about Jesus too? This is of course a very controversial movie to begin with since it deal with a very sensitive subject that most people avoid.
But of course as stated from the very beginning, this is just an adaptation from fictional exploration. Interesting movie nevertheless but I don't think that this is Scorsese's best movie.
