Review of The Last Station (2009) by John T — 05 Feb 2010
Now, this movie was about people I don't care about fighting over politics that I don't necessarily know much about or really believe in. That being said, the film was gloriously acted, and that's about all there is to praise it for.
If, like me, you're unfamiliar with Leo Tolstoy and Russian politics and history, that part of the story itself won't affect you too much, but you do get drawn into the relationship between Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer solely because the acting is so good.
And, to the credit of the makeup artists, Christopher Plummer looked EXACTLY like Tolstoy (you can compare with the actual footage of Tolstoy over the beginning of the credits).
