Review of The Last Station (2009) by Steve S — 28 Feb 2010
Helen Mirren reigns spectacularly over a strong troupe of perfectly-cast supporting actors. You don't need to know much about Tolstoy to appreciate this bittersweet story of a long, loving but tempestuous marriage complicated by fame, wealth, and various children and hangers-on with agendas of their own.
Dame Helen gives it her all and manages to be utterly vulnerable and perfectly elegant at the same time.
