Review of The Last Starfighter (1984) by Luigi M — 24 Aug 2009
Kid going no where in a California trailer park is recruited to fight against an armada of evil aliens...
Nice piece of 80's kitsch and Dan O'Herlighy's alien offers some amusement but the CGI effects are horrid (Return of the Jedi's minatures looked worlds better and still hold up to this day). Add to the fact that the Alien armada consists of one ship and 2 dozen fighters, well the good aliens have one base and 5 fighters (what is this interstellar war on a dime store budget) it never manages to reach the epic feel its stretching for. Good to watch if you remeber it growing up other wise there's not much reason to see this.
