Review of The Last Stand (2013) by Ryan O — 08 Jul 2013
Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to film as the main leading character isn't quite as good as it could have been. But I must admit, I enjoyed The Last Stand as an entertaining, action packed experience. I think I liked this movie far more than I should have, and maybe that's the point. Yes, its silly. Yes, the action sequences range from the "are you kidding me" to the "wow, that was pretty cool". And yes, the signature one-liners from Arnold are peppered throughout. It was very apparent to me that he didn't take this role too seriously, and as a viewer, you probably shouldn't either.
I had a good time. I'd even say (gulp), check it out. If you know what you're going to get going in, its not that bad of a movie. The set-up of the film is nothing to write home about, and it's actually a fairly usable premise, but it works. So kick back, relax, and have a good time.
