Review of The Last Stand (2013) by Christopher B — 09 Aug 2016
Fairly decent action flick with Schwarzenegger playing a former top SWAT-style hero who would rather be a Mayberry-type sheriff as he nears retirement. Guzman and Knoxville do excellent jobs as the well meaning foils, with Johnny channeling his best Matt Frewer. I'm rooting for Mrs. Salizar though.
I do have three questions: How is it that 5 hours worth of action (FBI mobilization, Deputies investigating the farm & prepping the town) happens in an hour and a half? What is a corn field doing on the Texas-Mexican border (lucky those sports cars didn't get hung up on furrows)? And how was that Z-1 supposed to drive onto a bridge with an incline like that (Built for tanks & Henrietta the military transport)? I understand this is a Hollywood action film, but plot devices should have evolved a bit more since the 1980's.
