Review of The Last Picture Show (1971) by Eitan F — 15 Jun 2008
I've never seen a film that so accurately and elegantly captures the melancholy of dead-end lives in a dead-end part of the world. Bogdanovich lets a whole world of crushed dreams unfold in front of us -- from the crowded first picture show to the tumbleweeds and boarded-up shops in the final frames.
A heartbreaking classic in every single sense, and perhaps even one of the finest pictures ever made.
