Review of The Last Picture Show (1971) by Niiles P — 09 Oct 2010
This is an easygoing fifties youngster story - early 70s version of American Pies, I would say. On the focus is a group of lads who live in a rural town in Texas. Guys spend their time on playing football and pool, cruising on the streets and struggling on to acquire more experiences with the local girls.
Jacy (Cybill Shepherd) is also a teen-ager, beautiful girl with high libido and need to get rid of her virginity. Not everything goes too easily on this movie, and that's what makes it enjoyable. Hillbilly-country music pours from every possible hole - but it fits rightly and makes authentic atmosphere.
