Although this is not my absolute favourite film, it is probably the film that I have watched the most amount of times; and it is undoubtedly in my Top 10.
The performances are excellent. DDL brings his usual high standard and it's refreshing to see him as a romantic lead. The love story between him and Madeleine Stowe is beautifully told; but perhaps overshadowed slightly by the unspoken love between Jodhi May and Eric Schweig - the climax to their story is incredibly moving and wonderfully acted.
It's not just a romance though; the fighting scenes are excellent, and the antagonist Magua is superb.
I must also mention the cinematography which is absolutely gorgeous and the sweeping score which really enhances the mood of the film.
