One of my favourite points of history (the North American Theatre of the 7-Years War), and my second favourite movie theme of all time (after 'A Man With a Harmonica'). A beautiful movie at the beginning and the end, but loses some momentum in the middle, where it becomes a bit hollow and Hollywood formulaic.
Still a solid 4-star, no question; but could have been an all-time great (much like my opinion of Gangs of New York).
