Review of The Last Mimzy (2007) by Roy N — 17 Aug 2009
It's not often that movies physically hurt. This one does. Just watch Michael Clarke Duncan's (see also bigass dude in The Green Mile) performance and you'll know why. He plays a high-level government official, uh, very, very badly. He is a consistent disaster throughout the movie.
The little girl's performance is about as good as can be expected and the boy's is slightly better. I felt bad for Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson, and Rainn Wilson who tried really hard to make this film stay above water. Kathryn Hahn was annoying, which is a shame because I like her and wish she'd work more.
The preview showed a story with a lot of promise. I expected a lot. This movie didn't even come close.
