Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Ryan Gibbons — 11 Oct 2010
Forest Whitaker gives one of the most convincing performances in the history of cinema. He did what actors try so hard to do, devoting all their free time to it. Making you feel like your actually watching the character their portraying, completely making you forget that the man is being played by an actor, and make it seem like you are staring down the actual figure, I forgot I was watching a movie when he appeared on screen.
James Macavoy is a cool Scotsman with some acting ability but there's really not that much to boast about when it comes to him. The directing in the film is excellent. It is a terrifying, and gruesomely brutal look at actual events with a fictional twist on it.
It's hard to watch at times, but it may be important.
